Trek Logistics

I wanted to share some of the logistical things we’ve needed to work out to plan this during a COVID-19 shut down.  When I hatched this idea, I was taking a walk and realized: β€˜Where would I be able to stop for bathroom breaks with everything closed? And what about where to sleep?’
A friend gave us the idea of having my husband, Bill, rent an RV. He could then stay a few miles ahead. This would help with safety but also to take care of where I would sleep and wee!  I could refill water and refuel with food without the need for a backpack.

When Bill contacted Cruise America and told them what we were doing, they graciously gave us a discount on the mileage costs

Thank you, Cruise America!

I’d also like express my sincere thanks to my new friends on FB -the Long Distance Walkers Association (LDWA).

They have given me so many really useful tips as I take on my first long distance walk! Thank you!

Training walks May 4-8th

Training walks this week will be walking to and from work since I have to work the whole week and won’t have a lot of extra time.

β€œIt’s a beautiful morning in Glendale!”

I am so overwhelmed by the outpouring of support for this event! It keeps me pumped up and motivated. Thank you all!

Dr. Monica would like nothing more than to help
ALL the animals world-wide! So she has officially registered docwalks4animals as a 501(c)(3) non-profit public charity whose mission is to support wildlife and environmental conservation projects.

“If you routinely give something to charity each year, I hope you will consider adding docwalks4animals.org to your list of supported charities. We are brand new, but I put together what I consider a very talented and dynamic board of directors, who bring diverse talents to our organization and, with your help, I am confident we can do great things for our planet.”
